Picking Prospects with Dorothy Crowell

Dorothy Crowell is perhaps best known for her Thoroughbred partner, Molokai. Together they contended the biggest 4* tracks in the world and earned an individual silver medal at the 1994 World Equestrian Games. Dorothy will lead this conformation evaluation session, offering insight on how to assess Thoroughbreds recently retired from racing as sport horse prospects.

Past Event: RRP’s 15-Year Anniversary Celebration in Saratoga
Please join us as we celebrate 15 years of increasing demand for Thoroughbreds and recognize our guest of honor and founding RRP board member, Mrs. Carolyn Rice and her contributions to Thoroughbred aftercare.
Doors open 5 PM Thursday, July 31st at Therapeutic Horses of Saratoga. Heavy hors d’oeuvres, beer, and wine will be served. Casual dress.
This event is free to attend and a donation of $25 is suggested. Guests may also elect to be recognized as members of our honorary event committee for $150. Your RSVP by July 25th is greatly appreciated.
Guests should be aware that while this event is being held in a dedicated, accessible, climate controlled event space, Therapeutic Horses of Saratoga is an active equine facility and parking and outdoor walkways will be on grass/gravel footing.

Staff and board members of the RRP will be on-hand to answer questions about our unique and critical mission to increase demand for Thoroughbreds beyond racing. Pick up our Saratoga trading cards series featuring past stakes winners who went on to the Thoroughbred Makeover and new careers, enter a raffle, make a donation, and browse the 2025 Thoroughbred Makeover registered horses list for your favorite racers of yesterday. We’ll also have a selection of logowear items for purchase from the RRP Store.
There will also be a named race in honor of the Retired Racehorse Project on August 1: join us trackside as we cheer the horses home! Check your program closer to the date for details.

Hundreds of off-track Thoroughbreds, each with 10 months or less of retraining. Three days of competition in 10 different disciplines, vying for a share of over $100,000 in prize money. Thousands of spectators watching online and in person. Presented by Thoroughbred Charities of America.
Past Event: 2026 Aftercare Industry Month, Presented by TERF
Thanks to the support of Thoroughbred Education & Research Foundation (TERF), the RRP is proud to present Aftercare Industry Month, a virtual conference open to all with a professional interest in Thoroughbred aftercare from all facets of the industry. Aftercare Industry Month will include four webinar sessions in the month of February that will provide an interactive experience for attendees to explore topics in-depth that pertain both to non-profit organizations and business entities. Past Event: Thoroughbred Wellness Expo
This immersive day of classroom sessions and live demos at the Marion duPont Scott Equine Medical Center is co-hosted with Virginia Tech and designed to give Thoroughbred owners confidence about navigating sport careers after racing injuries and outcomes.
